Xmas Grading Yields Surprise Result
Junior members of the Thanet TKD Power™ Academy tested for Xmas promotions last night (Thursday) at St. Paul`s Community Centre in Margate.

The examiner was Mr. Antony Panteli VI Dan, assisted by Miss Grace Wong II Dan (National Team Member and International Competitor). The examination was conducted by Miss Nicola Elsworth I Dan.

Testing for Green belt were Zac Wong, Bryn Kehoe and Josh Davenport. Each was required to perform their patterns individually, together with the requisite demonstration of 3 step sparring, semi free sparring, theory testing and destruction.

Zac, Bryn and Josh met to every challenge and following an outstanding destruction section where each successfully measured and broke a board with turning kick and side kick were able to relax to the back of the hall their examination completed.

Testing for Yellow belt 7th Kup was Amy Kehoe. Expectations on Amy were high, her having achieved Distinction passes at each of her two previous examinations. Similarly, she did not disappoint with each required element performed by her to an incredibly high degree of technical accuracy.

In a break from routine, Mr. Panteli invited Amy to measure and break with Turning Kick and Side Kick. This is not a requirement for the grade she was testing for, nonetheless, Amy confidently performed the techniques requested by the examiner.

The results naturaly reflected the performances with all those testing successfully achieving their promotions. Of special note, Zac Wong was awarded a merit pass for his performance, but the clear superstar of the evening was Amy Kehoe who was awarded an incredibly rare double promotion (from yellow belt direct to green belt).

Of her performance Mr. Panteli said: `it was simply the best yellow belt grading I have seen in over 20 years`.

Certificates and belts wil be awarded at the next class in Margate on Monday 12th December.

On behalf of the examination panel we would like to thank Thomas and Jake Gutrige together with Jake Chamberlalin who came to help out on the night.
