In a dramatic conclusion to the TKD Power™ Summer Camp, hosted this year by Dover TKD Power™ Instructor, Mr. Matthew Godden, a black belt promotion test was held at the Tayne Centre, in Lyminge, Kent.

Testing for promotion to 2nd Dan were John Powell, Joseph Mitchell and Sarah Godden, together with Katie Horne, Stuart Tree and Matthew Godden, each testing for 3rd Dan.
The examination panel, headed by Mr. Antony Panteli 6th Dan, included Mr. Gareth Avenell 4th Dan, Ms. Sue Chapman 4th Dan and Mr. Gary Bettsworth 4th Dan, and the proceedings were conducted by Miss Nicola Elsworth 1st Dan.
The examination, as always, was thorough and comprehensive with each candidate required to complete a written examination on Taekwon-Do theory, together with tests on Pattern, Sparring and Step Sparring and, of course, destruction techniques.
Promotion to 2nd Dan requires successful demonstration of Jumping Turning Kick (both legs), power breaking with the foot (optional choice of techniques) and power breaking with the hand (also optional coice of techniques). For 3rd Dan, as well as the optional power breakings, candidates are required to successfully demonstrate flying reverse turning kick with both legs.
The panel pleased with the overall standard of all the candidates and were happy to award each their respective promotion, with Sarah Godden achieving a very creditable merit pass.
