A small group of ten Tkdpower students competed at the Ltsi English Taekwondo Open Championships in St Albans Hertfordshire Sports Village on Sunday 6th October
.
The 1st medal of the day went to Jordan Bourne who got Silver in Green Belt Patterns and
Then went on to win gold in sparring who had too win five fights to win it! Also he was moved
Up to the Blue/Red belt division but no one could stop him! he has now won eight fights in 2 competitions and never been beaten! Harvey Baldwin also in the same division narrowly missed
Out on a medal after wining his first 2 fights and narrowly missing out in the 3rd fight.
The Next Medals went to Sarah Godden and Kieran Hook in patterns who ended up in the final
Of black belt patterns having to go against each other and Kieran Hook claiming Gold with Poem and Sarah Godden performing Juche having to settle for Silver.
Then Sarah made her way to the black belt sparring final and had to settle for another Silver
And Kieran Hook just missing out on a medal in sparring after losing in the semi final.
Next up was Emma Pham who made it to the yellow belt final in sparring and narrowly missed
Out to a opponent much bigger than her and took Silver. Next up up was Judy Berisha in the
Colour belt Veteran division who also got to the final in sparring and on the way having to beat a
Blue belt almost twice her weight and what makes this even more amazing is that Judy is over
50yrs young and beating opponents who are probably 10/15 years younger than herself which is
an inspiration to us all.
Next up was Gavin White who also made it to the final in Light weight Adult Black Belt who put on a very impressive performance but also having to settle for Silver.
Next up was Sharron Western in the Female veteran black belt division who took a well earned
Gold in sparring. Jordan Berry getting Silver in yellow/green belt patterns and Bronze in Sparring and Matthew Godden claiming Bronze in veteran black belt Sparring! Over all not a bad result we came 4th in the medal table and hope to win this competition next year if we take a bigger team as there was 410 competitors and only 10 of us!! Next competition the UKTA British Taekwondo Open Championships.
